Food Contact and FDA Compliance

There are a lot of factors that can go into whether or not an adhesive meets regulatory requirements for both direct and indirect food contact, including the amount of adhesive, exposure area, and type of food, among others. With an offering of adhesives that meet FDA 175.105, FDA 175.125 and ISEGA EU 10/2011 regulations, Performance Polymers knows these various regulations around the world and how they change and understands how to produce adhesives for a wide variety of demanding food and food packaging applications.

Low VOC / Odor

Adhesives with low VOC and low odor properties are in demand as consumers are more focused on air quality. Consequently, industry and governmental regulations are increasingly requiring adhesives to comply with VOC standards.

With a full portfolio of low VOC options, we can help find an adhesive solution without sacrificing adhesive performance. These adhesives are produced with low quantities of low molecular weight species with little to no high boiling point alcohols to diminish VOC levels while still maintaining adhesive performance.

Skin Contact and Wound Care

Skin contact and wound care applications have some of the most demanding requirements that a pressure-sensitive adhesive can encounter. These adhesives must provide a strong, durable bond to skin, be resistant to moisture and oils, and easily removable – all while passing extensive safety requirements and testing.

Performance Polymers offers a variety of pressure-sensitive adhesives for wound care and other applications involving skin contact. These adhesives have been thoroughly tested to pass the stringent testing required for these applications. They are specifically designed to offer excellent bonding performance along with low migration, low odor, and to pass cytotoxicity testing for acute skin contact, eye contact and ingestion


As consumers and manufacturers are becoming more knowledgeable about what goes into the products that impact their health and environment, the use of toluene has come under increased scrutiny. To meet these shifting demands, we have a full line of solvent acrylic adhesives specifically developed to be produced and coated without the use of toluene. In addition, we have made a commitment to develop future adhesives without toluene wherever possible.
