Jon Maley, Global Vice President

As global vice president, Performance Polymers, Jon Maley spearheads commercial and technical growth efforts for the company’s external adhesives business. He also leads the strategic development of its global adhesives platform. Most recently, as vice president, global marketing, Performance Tapes, he spent three years developing and executing the company’s industrial tapes growth strategy. Previously, he was vice president, global marketing for Materials Group and vice president, marketing Materials Group North America. Jon holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in business administration from Dartmouth College. He is based in Mentor, Ohio.

Darin Miles, Global Commercial Director

In 2016, Darin Miles was appointed to the position of Global Commercial Director for the Performance Polymers business of Industrial and Healthcare Materials of Avery Dennison Corporation.. 

As the commercial director, Darin has direct responsibility for the global sales and marketing teams for Performance Polymers. Darin joined Avery Dennison in 2010 as a global product manager. Before joining Avery Dennison, he had global roles of increasing responsibility in Operations, Business Management and Marketing for Ashland Chemical and Air Products. Darin has broad experience in a number of adhesive technologies, applications and markets.  

He holds an MBA from Ashland University and a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from the University of Cincinnati.

James Akeley, Global Technical Director

James Akeley was appointed to the position of Global Technical Director of Performance Polymers for Industrial and Healthcare Materials of Avery Dennison Corporation.

In his current role since 2016, Jim is responsible for global R&D and technical services at Performance Polymers. He previously held the role of senior global technical manager, managing the Performance Polymers global technology team, the Materials Group product development team, and the Mill Hall team. Jim joined Avery Dennison in 1989, and during his tenure has held a variety of global roles of increasing responsibility in operations, product development, procurement and technology, including the development and implementation of  Avery Dennison’s global adhesives sourcing and supply strategy.  

Jim’s extensive background in adhesives spans over 30 years at Avery Dennison. He has been central to the development and launch of many of Avery Dennison’s most commercially successful adhesive solutions, and is coauthor of multiple patents. Jim is a certified Six Sigma and Design for Six Sigma Black Belt. Jim holds a BS in Biology/Chemistry from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, as well as being certified in project management .
